A strong storm system will reach central Iowa Wednesday afternoon.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Roger Vachalk says Wednesday there are going to be brisk winds that reach 30 to 45 miles per hour. He says the wind will drastically change in the afternoon.
“And then as we head into the afternoon and evening, the winds are going to sharply increase, especially toward the evening hours, and the gusts may exceed 60 to 65 miles per hour at times from the west-southwest. So very strong winds expected. These winds may cause trees to fall if they’re strong enough and may also cause some power outages, and definitely impact high profile vehicles traveling on area highways and interstates during that time frame.”
According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie, along with Greene and Dallas County will be under a high wind watch Wednesday afternoon until the evening.
