The Perry School Board approved a new elementary special education teacher position at their regular meeting Monday.

The Board approved the new position which is needed due to experiencing more students who qualify for special education services. Also, the Board approved a purchase of a copier in the amount of $12,723 and a maintenance contract in the amount of $263 per month and the 2021-2022 support staff handbook which had no changes from last year.

Additionally, the Board approved a research project titled Teacher as Learners-Teachers as Thinkers Improving Classroom Communication in Mathematics which is a three-year research project which will help show kids real world research while also improving math instruction and communication in elementary classrooms.

Finally, the Board approved an increase from $125 to $135 for substitute teachers to counteract the shortage in substitute teachers effective January 1st, 2022, service agreement and letter of agency with E-Rate Complete LLC for E-Rate services, revisions of board policies and three early graduation requests.

The Board elected Linda Andorf as Board President and Jim Lutmer for Board Vice President. The Board also set time and date for regular board meetings of the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. in the High School Brady Library. The Board also selected Board members for committees and swore in the two new Board members in Travis Landgrebe and Eddie Diaz.
