The Jefferson Elks hosted the local Hoop Shoot contest, where the winners will now move onto the district competition.

There were three age and gender divisions, with the participants stemming from physical education classes at Greene County and Paton-Churdan School Districts. The winners for the 8-9 year-old boys was Keegan Minnihan and for the girls, it was Kenna Minnihan. The 10-11 year-old top finishers were for the boys, Kading Winters and for the girls, Edynn Smith. As for the 12-13 year-old boy champion, it was Donovan Martin and for the girls, it was Alivya Smith. 

The winners from the local contest will compete at districts on January 15th at the Greene County Middle School gym. The other Elks Lodges in the district include Perry, Council Bluffs, Estherville, Boone and Ames.
