Greene County’s boys’ basketball team lost to Nevada 84-53 on Tuesday night in Jefferson to fall to 4-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play and 4-4 overall. The Cubs improved to 6-2 and 5-1. The games were heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
The Cubs and Rams combined to make 20 goals from three-point range, 12 by Nevada. The visiting team led 24-16 after one quarter and were up 31-28 before Nevada went on a 12-0 run late in the half to go ahead by 15. The Nevada lead was 43-30 at intermission. Two quick three-pointers to start the third quarter made it 49-30, then the Rams went on a 10-0 run to make it 49-40. It was all Nevada after that with the Cubs out scoring the Rams 35-13 the rest of the game.
Ty Dittmer had 29 points for the Cubs, 21 more than his game average. The Rams had 21 points from Richard Daugherty and 16 by Jesse Miller.
It’s the Holiday break for the Rams until Jan. 4 when they go to Webster City for a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
