Governor Kim Reynolds recently visited the City of Bayard to see the damage done by the storm on December 15th.

Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf says they discussed with the governor the tracks of the two EF-2 tornadoes, along with damage assessments, a synopsis of the damage in Guthrie County and the disaster relief funds, as authorized by Reynolds last week. Kempf states residents affected by the storm can apply by January 31st for disaster relief funds but have to meet certain criteria. Kempf tells Raccoon Valley Radio households that qualify are eligible for $5,000.

“But one of the things is to actually qualify under that, you know, it’ll only take care of things on the home, they won’t take care of outbuildings, things of that nature, and it’ll only bring them back to the pre-existing conditions.”

He adds the program is based on family size, then the applicant must be 200 percent below the federal poverty level and without insurance coverage. Kempf states that people with damage should reach out to Guthrie County New Opportunities for an appointment and more information. Click the link below for more information.
