An operation to help reduce vehicle crash fatalities will be Greene and Guthrie counties today.
Iowa State Patrol District 4 Resource Officer Shelby McCreedy explains what the Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort (CARES) will do.
“We anticipate a major increase in the travel patterns on our roadways, so we’re going to be putting additional personnel out on the roadways. It’s not just the Iowa State Patrol that’s going to be increasing their presence, it’s also on a county and local level as well. So anticipate seeing a lot of us out.”
McCreedy says the CARE initiative focus is with the increased law enforcement presence on the roads during high crash periods which usually falls on the holidays. She states the goal of the operation is to ensure motorists reach their destination safely.
