After being closed for some time due to the coronavirus pandemic, one local amenity in Perry will reopen next week.

The Carnegie Library Museum will open its doors to the public next Tuesday and will have regular hours six days per week. The reopening is possible due to a partnership between Hometown Heritage, the Perry Public Library and the City of Perry. Library Director Mary Murphy talks about the closure.

“The Carnegie Library Museum closed, as we all closed down our services due to the pandemic early in 2020, March 18th for the Perry Public Library. After the winter break the Hometown Heritage at the Carnegie Library Museum did not reopen because of the pandemic and it’s been cloistered ever since.”

Murphy tells Raccoon Valley Radio everyone has been working together to get the museum back open again. Murphy says she will have oversight of the employees at the museum.

“These employees will be doing the function of having it open, you can check out books if you have a library card, you can have tours of the Carnegie Library Museum and Hometown Heritage will be producing programs like they did before.”

The Carnegie Library Museum will officially reopen on Tuesday.
