The 2021 holiday season has officially wrapped up as the new year begins, and some people may be feeling depressed due to overspending.

Dallas County Health Department Public Information Ann Cochran says for those who may have overspent on gifts, food and entertainment, it can cause people to feel more down than normal in the new year.

“The result is going to be being short on money in January and February and that can be very depressing and feel very hopeless to some people. Of course the solution to that is to not overspend but if it’s already happened do contact one of the community groups that can help you with budgeting.”

Cochran says if people contact the Dallas County Health Department they can direct them toward some of the resources that are available in the community if they are having financial trouble.

“If you are interested in seeking help for mental illness or if you’re interested in seeking help having to do with being financially over strapped. Just give us a call, it’s free for anybody who lives in Dallas County.”
