New Opportunities Guthrie County is  reminding residents that they are still accepting applications for heating assistance.

Development Center Coordinator Rhonda Huggins says once the new year starts people tend to think the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is over but it’s still going until April. Huggins explains the program will help low income earners with a payment of a portion of their primary home heating or fuel vendor. She says people need help more than ever this year.

I think everyone is seeing higher energy bills. I know I am, so if you think you are eligible, please call and let’s get that done and help you out on your energy bill.”

Huggins adds a person can only apply once a season from October until April 30th. For those that think they meet the income requirements, call New Opportunities Guthrie County Office at 641-747-3845.
