Greene County hosted Panorama in a girl/boy non-conference basketball doubleheader in the high school gym in Jefferson on Monday. The Class 2A number 4 Panthers rolled in the girls’ game to the tune of a 68-15 final, and the Panthers won the boys’ game 64-46. Both contests were heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
The Panorama girls are now 12-0 on the season while the Rams have lost 10 straight games and fell to 1-10. Payton Beckman had 24 points for the Panthers. Jaidyn Sellers and Angela Poldberg each added 12 points for Panorama. Emma Hoyle had six points for Greene County.
The boys’ game saw the Rams score well early with leads of 12-4 and 15-7, but it was all Panthers from that point forward. Panorama scored the final 12 points of the first quarter to lead 19-15 and expanded the advantage to 35-25 at the half. The lead grew to 18 points in the second half. Panorama improved to 7-4 and has won six of its last seven while the Rams have dropped four of five and fell to 5-6.
Maddax Hammerstrom scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half to lead all scorers. Braedon Draper had 12 and two Panthers, Braylon Dawes and Jared Wasson, each had 11 points. The Rams had 12 points from Bryce Stalder with nine by Richard Daugherty, eight for Max Riley, seven for Jesse Miller, and six from Jackson Morton.
