With the 2022 Iowa Legislative Session officially underway, one lawmaker talks about an issue he intends to address.

Iowa State Senator for District 10 Jake Chapman says he will focus on the issue of what he feels is obscene materials that are in schools throughout the state.

“I find it incredibly disturbing that we are seeing, in schools in particular, places that should be the safest place for kids, our schools, we are seeing school teachers, we are seeing school boards approving books that are pornographic in nature. It’s obscene material and I can tell you that if I even read half of what is contained in these books you likely would not even be able to air it. You would have to cut it out of this interview.”

Chapman tells Raccoon Valley Radio there are some who feel it is okay to have materials such as what he described in schools and allow students to read them which is an issue he will look at during this legislative session.
