Friday’s winter weather has caused some issues on the roads in Greene County.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio there is a tow ban in place in Greene County. He says if a vehicle is stranded in the storm, no tow services are available until the tow ban is lifted. However, you are to call law enforcement and notify them of your location and it may be some time until they can get to you.
Williams notes there was also a head-on collision on Highway 30 and Orchard Avenue, in Jefferson at 5:37pm. The Jefferson Police and Fire departments, as well as the sheriff’s office and Greene County Ambulance responded. Williams points out the fire department had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate one of the drivers, who was then transported to Greene County Medical Center with injuries by Greene County Ambulance.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning remains in effect for Greene County until 6am Saturday.
