A local Jefferson business recently changed its name and ownership.

Veterinarian Dr. Mark Peters sold his business to his associate Dr. Amy Klauer. However, Dr. Peters points out that just because there’s been an ownership change, doesn’t mean he is retiring.

“We’re just kind of changing roles in the management but not roles in the exam rooms. We’ll both be here, we’ll both be practicing, we’ll both be doing medicine and surgery, we’ll be seeing patients just like normal. Clients won’t notice a difference. And so it’ll be a little different for me, I haven’t been an employee in 24.5 years but I can take orders at home so I can take orders here too.”

Dr. Klauer says that due to legal reasons, the name of the business also had to change. The new name is Fairview Veterinary Clinic, which Dr. Klauer says was the name of the business she was co-owner of with her practice in Nebraska. The name was available because the clinic in Nebraska also underwent an ownership change too. She talks about why she wanted to take over the clinic in Jefferson.

“There’s just some things about that that I miss, being able to do things to add services and possibly even add people down the road. We’d like to eventually incorporate some boarding, I know there’s a huge need for that in Jefferson. More than likely, eventually we will have a groomer, but we’re just obviously in the beginning stages.”

The business has been located along Gallup Road in the Greene County Development Corporation east business park near Highway 30 for three years.
