A Grand Junction man was recently sentenced to probation on felony drug charges.

According to court documents, 29-year-old Timothy Pittman pled guilty to an amended charge of a Class C Felony for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver less than five grams and a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent for possession of marijuana habitual offender. As per the plea agreement, 10 and 15 year prison sentences were suspended and Pittman was placed on probation for 3-5 years.

The charges stemmed from an incident on September 11th. An Iowa State Trooper stopped a speeding vehicle on Highway 30 near the intersection with Highway 144. The Trooper noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Pittman was the passenger and following a probable cause search he was arrested for drugs.

Pittman was originally charged with a Class B Felony for conspiring with intent to deliver or manufacture methamphetamine over five grams and the felony for possession of marijuana habitual offender. As per the plea agreement, the B Felony was amended to the Class C Felony charge. Pittman was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines, surcharges, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees.
