kale-petersen

It’s the final week of the high school wrestling regular season for the Greene County Rams, yet it’s the season and school debut for Kale Petersen. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams go to Algona later today to face the host Bulldogs as well as Garner-Hayfield/Ventura. The Rams take a 10-7 dual meet record into the triangular and fans will get to see Petersen in action for Greene County for the first time.

Petersen will be at 120 lbs. for Greene County after winning the Class 1A 106 lbs. State Championship last February for West Fork (Sheffield). He was sixth at state at 106 in 2020. Petersen is eligible because he fulfilled the 90-school day transfer rule. His family did not establish residency within the Greene County School District, but it’s better late than never when a State Champion comes into your wrestling room. He joins Greene County’s 2021 State Champion McKinley Robbins on the same high school team. Robbins won the 2A 120 lbs. State Title last year and is now at 132 lbs. Both are Sebolt Wrestling Academy veterans. That business moved to Jefferson in the summer of 2020.
