A Greene County community recently received a donation to help continue improvements to a city asset.

A $1,000 memorial donation was made to the Friends of Rippey from Ron and Kathy Ridnour of Ames in honor of Jim Fouch. Fouch passed away last October and he graduated with Ron from East Greene in 1963. The two played high school baseball and the town’s summer team, the Rippey Demons.

The Ridnours are hoping that with their donation, more contributions will be made to the ball field in Rippey as the Friends organization continues to improve and update the facility. The initial games that are scheduled for this year include the 2nd Annual Rippey Ruckus on April 23rd and 24th, featuring teams from last year from Minnesota and Kansas City, Missouri. Several high school baseball games are also planned to play on Walt Anderson Field this year.

Donations can be made to the Friends of Rippey, P.O. Box 52 in Rippey. Checks can be earmarked for Rippey Baseball.
