Following last November’s city-school elections, one Greene County community now has a full city council.

There were two seats on the council that needed to be filled and the council approved the appointments at their December 21st meeting. The first was an open seat on the council for a four year term. The seat was left unfilled after the November election when there were only write-in candidates.

Because the top candidate who had the most votes with Dustin Gibson took one of the two available seats, the other open seat went to the candidate with the second most votes which was Dave Dideriksen. He declined to serve another four years and so the council approved the appointment of Jeremiah Geisler.

Another seat the council had to fill by appointment was to fill a vacancy left by Jeramie Phillips to serve the final two years of his four year term. The council appointed Diderksen to that seat, and because of the appointment, the seat will be available at the next city-school election in 2023.

Prior to the council taking action on these appointments, council members and Mayor Jerry Boyd received letters to fill the empty seats.
