Two Greene County speech groups qualified for next month’s state competition.

Greene County Speech Coach Kelley Gray tells Raccoon Valley radio Choral Reading and One Act Play each received a Division 1-rating and will advance to the Iowa High School Speech Association’s State Large Group Contest. Choral Reading, featuring “The Lorax” included Olivia Shannon, Bella Linberg, Bella Schroeder, Rym Gherairi, Esther Van Horn, Alexa Peters, Ashlynn Hinners, and Allee Hinote. One Act Play of “The Ladies of the Mop” included Ava Schilling, Eliot Schilling, Hinote, Olivia Hoyt. The other two entries with Ensemble Acting and Group Improv each received a Division II-rating and will not be moving on.

Paton-Churdan Speech Coach Kellie Henderson notes that Abby Duckett and Autumn Consier were not able to perform at the district contest. 

The state competition will take place at West Des Moines Valley High School on February 5th.
