When the varsity girls’ basketball teams from Des Moines Hoover and Greene County meet in the high school gym in Jefferson tonight, a long losing streak will end. The Huskies have lost all 18 games this season, and 23 straight dating back to last season. The Rams are 1-16, having won the season opener, then dropped 16 straight.
Hoover averages less than 22 points per game and the Rams average under 25. Defensively, the Huskies, who play in the rugged Central Iowa Metro League, are giving up 75 points pre game and the Rams are allowing 55.
Tonight’s starting time is different than what’s on the original schedule. There will be two quarters of JV girls at 6 o’clock with the varsity game starting time set for 6:45 p.m. The varsity game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
