An area law enforcement agency has announced it has partnered with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office is helping to keep tobacco, alternative nicotine and vapor products away from underage people in the county. Deputies will be conducting compliance checks of local businesses as part of the I-PLEDGE program.
Underage customers will be under the supervision of law enforcement personnel and will be visiting local stores and attempting to buy tobacco, alternative nicotine and vapor products. Those who make the illegal sale will be cited and the criminal penalties are $135 for the first offense, $325 for the second and $645 for the third offense and offenses after that.
