At this week’s Greene County School Board meeting, a public hearing will be held for the proposed school calendar for next year.
Superintendent Tim Christensen says the calendar is virtually the same as this year, with alternating no school days for students for professional development, and a general no school day for everyone. He continues to advocate for professional development for teachers.
“Teacher professional development is huge. I wish that we could figure out a way to have more of them, because again, the bottom line is the better job that teachers do of teaching – which again, in order to do that, it is professional development, it’s looking at data, looking at research – the better job they do there, the better job that they can teach students. So those professional development days are invaluable.”
Other highlights of the proposed calendar includes the first day of the 2022-23 school year is August 23rd, winter break is from December 21st-January 3rd and spring break will be from March 13th-17th, with the final day of school on May 26, 2023. The public hearing will be at 5:15pm on Wednesday from the district boardroom at the middle school.
