A California man was killed Monday morning in a two vehicle crash in Adair County. 

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the incident happened at 12:20am when 27-year-old Jasvir Sood from Fresno, California was driving west on Interstate 80 near mile marker 70 in a 2021 Freightliner and rear ended a 2008 Honda Pilot driven by 36-year-old Milinganyo Bwami from Omaha, Nebraska. The Honda Pilot came to a rest upright in the north ditch along with the Freightliner which rolled over and partially ejected Sood where he was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash report shows Sood was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

According to the report three other occupants sustained injuries and were transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Bwami also suffered injuries and was transported by Adair EMS to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. All of the occupants in the Honda were wearing their seatbelts.

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Iowa Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
