Dallas Center – Grimes Mustangs basketball will be on the hardwood tonight as they compete in Class 3A substate 6 semifinal action, as the Mustangs will be taking on Nevada in Grimes. Both teams sport identical records with a 17-5 mark, with both teams coming into the matchup on winning streaks. DCG has a two game winning and Nevada an impressive eight game winning streak coming into the matchup.
Mustang basketball is coming off of a 81-43 win over Saydel on Monday night, as the Mustangs were able to outscore Saydel 28-4 in the second quarter and never look back in the victory. Nevada is coming off of a 82-68 victory over ADM in their first round, as they were tremendous from the outside, knocking down fifteen team threes on the night in the win.
These two programs have not faced each other too much, with the last meeting in 2011. Nevada is athletic and tall in their lineup, with the ability to shoot well, so DCG will have to rebound well and defend the three point arc at a high rate.
