An Elite wrestling event for Youth and High School competitors was hosted by IAWrestle on Saturday night in Des Moines at Franklin Junior High. Greene County junior Kale Petersen, a two-time Iowa State Champion was in the field for Sebolt Wrestling Academy of Jefferson and lost 12-10 to Montana State Champion Carter Schmidt.

Petersen led 8-3 early in the second period before falling behind 9-8 at the end of the second period. An early third period takedown gave Petersen a 10-9 lead before an escape and takedown for Schmidt put him ahead for good. Petersen was giving up some size after he won the 120 lbs. Class 2A title for the Rams in Feb. and Schmidt was the AA 126 lbs. Champion in Big Sky Country.
