A Churdan man was recently sentenced to a few days in jail and probation for driving drunk and drug-related charges.

According to court documents, 38-year-old Travis Venteicher pled guilty to two serious misdemeanors for his first offense for an OWI and his first offense for possession of marijuana. Venteicher had all but two days of a one year jail sentence suspended for the OWI charge and will serve one of two days in jail for the other serious misdemeanor conviction. He will then be placed on probation for one year with Boone and Greene County Probation Services.

The charges stem from an incident from October 10, 2021. A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on 130th Street near N Avenue at 2:33am for a vehicle that was swerving. The driver, Venteicher, refused to do a field sobriety test or submit to a breathalyzer test. Drug-related items were also found in the vehicle.

Venteicher was also ordered to pay court-appointed attorney fees and court costs. As per the plea agreement, all other charges including a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony for possession of contraband in a correctional facility were dismissed.
