A democratic candidate for Iowa governor visited the Hotel Pattee on Tuesday to discuss her important topics with potential voters.
Democratic candidate for Iowa governor Deidre DeJear visited with a room packed with people on Tuesday to talk about her candidacy. DeJear says one of the reasons she decided she wanted to run for governor is because she feels the role is one that can bring about change.
“This is a role that can really effect change, the type of change that is not only going to move the individual Iowan forward but the entire state collectively and so I am ready to rise to that occasion. This is a state that was once number one in education, we are falling father and farther down the list, 18, 19, 20, and we see the damage that is being caused there. That is not where Iowa belongs.”
DeJear tells Raccoon Valley Radio some of the important platform topics for her include education, economic development and making sure that people have access to accessible and affordable healthcare and mental health services.
“I want to hear the good that exists in the community but I also want to see where there is room for improvement.”
DeJear officially filed her paperwork for candidacy on Tuesday.
