Greene County head boys’ track & field coach Chad Morton watched his team perform indoors three times and now it’s on to the outdoor season, which is scheduled to begin in Jefferson on Monday, March 28 at the Greene County Coed Early Bird Meet at Linduska Field.

About the indoor meets, the coach told Raccoon Valley Radio, “We had over 40 athletes compete this indoor season and that’s more than Greene County track has had perform in an indoor season ever before. I was very proud of everyone’s efforts!”

The final indoor meet was last Saturday at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. It was a relatively small field at just 10 schools, but Morton said the competition was at a high level. “We saw teams that will place high down at the State Track Meet later this Spring. Our athletes rose to the occasion with several personal records (PRs) and one indoor school record set at this meet.”

The Greene County indoor school record was the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:39.51 with Camden Strennen, Nate Black, Jackson Morton, and Richard Daugherty. That unit finished in fourth place on Saturday.
