The Greene County Medical Center is seeking volunteers to help with a specialized insurance program.
The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is needing volunteer counselors. This program provides one-on-one assistance with Medicare beneficiaries, helps their caregivers or representatives with questions or concerns related to Medicare and health insurance, and educates individuals on the beneficiaries of Medicare.
The medical center’s SHIIP was recently recognized for its 30 years of existence, serving Jefferson and the surrounding communities. Interested individuals who would like to apply must be at least 21 years old, pass a federal background check, and be committed to 12 months as a SHIIP volunteer.
Contact the medical center for an application with Mary Tighe at billmary71@gmail.com, call SHIIP at 1-800-351-4664 or email SHIIP@iid.iowa.gov.
