Greene County boys’ soccer has had just one match and the Rams haven’t played since March 31. Part of that is due to a light early season schedule and part is because of poor weather conditions. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams are 1-0 after a 2-1 overtime victory at Class 2A Boone.
Sophomore Gabe Ebersole is in his second season as the goalkeeper for the Rams. Although young, he’s already been in several highly intense games including contests ending in overtime, in penalty kicks, in a Substate final, and in the 2021 Class 1A State Tournament. Coach Behne talked about Ebersole with Raccoon Valley Radio. “We’re really looking forward to seeing his growth and development. We’re going to really push him this year to communicate even more and get out there and talk to his back line and tell them where he wants them. Last year as a freshman he had a couple of juniors and seniors with a lot of experience in front of him, so it’s understandable he was a little quieter, but after the year he had last year, the relationships over the various sports he’s developed with all the guys, communication is going to continue to improve for us as well.”
Next up for Greene County boys’ soccer is a trip to Huxley to face Ballard on Monday.
