A Jefferson woman was arrested when she allegedly stole money from a dependent adult.
According to court documents, the Iowa Department of Human Services contacted the Jefferson Police Department on March 14th concerning missing money from the dependent adult victim and 62-year-old Kimberly Conner. During the investigation, it was discovered that Conner was the power of attorney for the victim, who is in a care facility and unable to make sound financial decisions without assistance.
Court records show that while Conner was the power of attorney, she withdrew over $20,000 from the victim’s bank accounts and the money was not used for the victim but for Conner. Officers determined Conner stole the money without the victim’s consent. Conner was then arrested on Wednesday and charged with a Class D Felony for dependent adult abuse – exploitation over $100. She was booked into the Greene County Jail and was released after posting a $500 cash bond.
