John Deere in Paton donates $2,000
A program with the Paton-Churdan School District recently received donations to continue its mission.
Libby Towers says they received a $3,000 donation from the Paton Presbyterian Church and $2,000 from John Deere in Paton to help with the Rocket Fuel Pack Program.
“What it is, is we send home food packs, (including) two meals, two breakfast items, two snacks, a fruit, a veggie and then a drink. Just to try and help the children over the weekend and make sure that they are having sufficient, healthy options for food. But we do try and make them also something that they can easily make on their own.”

Towers notes that while the program is geared mostly toward families that participate in the free and reduced lunch program, it is also available for any family that requests to be a part of it. She points out one way they are helping to ensure that students can make most of the food items through a micro-cooker that every family has.
“They’re just easy, microwavable things that would allow the kids to be able to make something safely and easily at home. Everything that goes home in our Rocket Fuel Packs is something that should be able to be, for the most part, be able to use with the micro-cooker that they received at the beginning of the year.”
Towers appreciates the support from the two organizations that donated funds so that they can continue to purchase food items and adds it will definitely help now that food prices have been increasing recently.
