Greene County girls’ soccer coach Maribel Hernandez talked with Raccoon Valley Radio. Numbers are down and the Rams are looking for their first win after four losses, and their first goal this season. They’ll host Treynor tomorrow in Grand Junction with the varsity contest at 5:30 p.m.

The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio numbers have decreased in recent seasons. “Now we get less and less girls out for soccer. I watched middle school practice the other day and it looked like there were only three girls out there. The boys were good with 12 or 13, but there were only three girls. It’s a real challenge to have them play as a team because some of the girls are not used to the sport. I think it starts with parent involvement. If they don’t start taking their kids out for soccer, it’s going to be pretty hard.”
