For an upcoming initiative with Perry Lutheran Homes that aims to spread joy to elders throughout the community, today is one of the last days to nominate an elder you know.
Project Deliver the LOVE with Perry Lutheran Homes is still accepting names until tomorrow of elders who are 75-years-old or over, live in Perry or within a 10-mile radius of Perry and would be brought joy by receiving a personal delivery of a basket filled with food, fun and encouragement.
Marketing Director Mollie Clark tells Raccoon Valley Radio the reason for tomorrow being the deadline for submitting names is to have plenty of time to organize the deliveries.
“The reason being, we have to put all of these individuals into Google maps and kind of map it all out so that we are really organized for you, the volunteers, the day of. If there is somebody age 75 and over in Perry or withinin a ten mile radius of Perry that you know would enjoy an in-person visit, to have some visitors check in on them and see how they are doing. You can submit that through our website, at perrylutheranhomes.org, or you can call Sara Nefzger.”
The baskets will be delivered on May 4th this year and 150 volunteers are needed and can volunteer for a variety of tasks including assembling the baskets and delivering them.
