Republican lawmakers have passed legislation that would change parts of the law for mobile homes.

District 24 Senator Jesse Green of Boone says some of the changes that they made include increasing the amount of days a tenant is given notice of a rate increase from 60 to 90 days, and when a new landowner buys a mobile home park, they are to honor the previous agreements with tenants.

Opposition to the bill argued that there were no limits as to how much rates could be raised by and how often those rates could be increased. Green shares his comments about those issues.

“I definitely think there is something that can be done with that and I think there is some bipartisan support for that. I’m kind of fresh with this conversation. This conversation has been going on for years. So I’m kind of taking a step back and just observing from the outside to learn what the common problems are that people see on both sides of the political spectrum.”

According to Jefferson Building Official Chad Stevens there are two mobile home parks within city limits. Click the link below to see the full version of House File 2562. The bill is awaiting the governor’s signature to become law.
