At the most recent Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board meeting, the Board approved the collective bargaining agreement for certified staff throughout the district.

The Board approved the 2022-23 collective bargaining tentative agreement which features a wage increase and a $1,000 incentive to all certified staff who complete the 2022-23 school year. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the pay increase was important for the agreement.

“The total wage increase for our teachers, our certified staff, is 6-percent. That includes a one time retention incentive for all teachers who sign a contract for next year and finish the year and that would be for an additional $1,000. With that included in the settlement it’s a total wage increase of 6-percent which is very good and both sides are very happy.”

Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio the wage increase was important to making sure the wages remained competitive while also helping to combat ongoing inflation and giving teachers what they deserve.

“The real heart and foundation of our school is obviously the people and a core component of our people is of course our teachers and they are just outstanding. We know a competitive wage is very important, today more so than it was five years ago in terms of the pressure of inflation that is a market factor and the demand for teachers is increasing and the availability of teachers in the teacher pool is shrinking.”

The tentative collective bargaining agreement was approved at the ADM School Board meeting on April 11th.
