Students who will be representing the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Perry VanKirk Career Academy Welding Academy will soon participate in the 2022 “High School Weld Off.”

Recently, Perry VanKirk Career Academy Welding Academy students participated in the first VanKirk Career Academy Welding Contest on April 14th and the top welders are advancing on to the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33 High School Welding Contest on May 6th in Des Moines. The competition will begin at 8 a.m. and will conclude by 2 p.m. on May 6th. 

The top two place winners will receive a welder and additional awards include welding hoods and gear.

Representatives for the Perry VanKirk Career Academy include Rachel Marwedel, Jayden Flugge-Smith, Jarrett Stucker, Alex Anderson, Dylan Rodgers and Hayden Desmarais all from Dallas County high schools.
