There is an upcoming legislative softball game this weekend that will help raise money for charity, and there is still time to purchase tickets to the game.

Iowa House Representative for District 19 Carter Nordman says this year is the inaugural slow pitch softball game that will feature lawmakers from both the Iowa Senate and Iowa House and will help raise money for charity.

“I think one thing that we can all come together on is raising money for two great charities. So, this game will take place on May 1st at Principal Park. It will be Republicans versus Democrats, state lawmakers.”

Nordman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that while Republican and Democratic lawmakers may have a tough time coming together on policy issues, that doesn’t mean they can’t come together to raise money for a good cause.  The Democrats are raising money for the Iowa Food Bank Association while the Republicans are supporting the Puppy Jake Foundation.

“If you go to Facebook and type in Iowa Legislative Softball Game for Charity there is an event page with two sets of tickets and those tickets that you purchase go to benefit those two great charities.”

Purchasing a ticket also grants you access to the Iowa Cubs game. For more information or to get tickets you can go here for Republicans and here for Democrats.
