As the legislative session continues through the overtime period, a House representative discusses a budget he’s been directly involved with.
State Representative for District 20 Ray Sorensen explains that he’s been working to get the economic development budget bill passed through legislation and its goal is to expand access to affordable housing throughout the state. He says the economic development budget bill works in conjunction with the Habitat for Humanity, which helps to improve existing housing stock.
“I believe it would invest $1.5 million of state funds and rehab existing homes and bring them up to our 21st century standards.”
Sorensens says that this passed through the House and is awaiting the Senate to act on the budgets. He adds he’s made economic development a priority ever since he got elected to the House.
