
Last Friday West Central Valley boys soccer fans got a sneak peek at what the final game for the class 1A Substate 8 bracket could look like. The Wildcats hosted the Treynor Cardinals and came out with a hard fought 4-3 victory.
For the Cardinals, senior Thomas Schwartz was the leader in goals, scoring 2 and having 4 shots on goal for a shooting percentage of 33.3%. The assist leader was junior Sam Burmeister, who assisted on all 3 goals for the Cardinals, and junior goalie Nate Petersen lead in saves, with 9 saves and 4 goals against, for a save percentage of 69.2%.
For the Wildcats, senior Mitchell Dickson led the way with goals, scoring 3, with 7 shots on goal for a shooting percentage of 33.3%. Sophomore Kamron Kunkle lead the way in assists with 2, and also had 1 shot on goal, and sophomore Nate Gerling lead the team in saves with 6, and having 3 goals against for a save percentage of 66.7%.
As stated earlier, this was a sneak peek at what the final game of the Class 1A Substate 8 bracket could look like, as the Cardinals are the number 1 seed, and the Wildcats are the number 2 seed.
