With the victory on Wednesday, the Wildcats boys soccer team punched their ticket to the 2022 Iowa State Soccer Tournament. They’ll be playing against the Beckman Catholic Trailblazers next Wednesday, with the game to start at 12:30. If they win that game, they’ll advance to the next round on Friday. It looks like the game will be a good one, as the Trailblazers are 15-3 on the season, and the Wildcats are 16-1.

Let’s take a quick look at statistical leaders for both teams on the season. For the Trailblazers, senior Ryan Burchard leads the way in goals, having scored 21, with 52 shots on goal, and a shot on goal percentage of 27.6%. Junior Trent Arens leads the way in assists, with 15, and also adding 4 goals, and 32 shots on goal. Junior Hunter Douglas leads the team in saves, with 35 saves, 11 goals allowed, and a save percentage of 76.1%.

For the Wildcats, senior Mitchell Dickson leads in both goals and assists, with 36 goals, 21 assists, 75 shots on goal, and a shot on goal percentage of 25.5%. Sophomore Nate Gerling leads in saves, with 75 saves, 9 goals allowed, and a save percentage of 89.3%.
