A summer event starts up again in Jefferson.
The Bell Tower Community Foundation and Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community are teaming up for the Chews Jefferson weekly Wednesday event, where people are encouraged to order from a restaurant in Jefferson and then sit on the south plaza of the Greene County Courthouse to listen to live music from the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower.
Deb McGinn with Jefferson Matters believes this promotion is gaining in popularity.
“I think it’s growing. People, they go, ‘Oh my gosh it’s Wednesday. Oh I forget that it’s on there.’ And so we’re really going to try and push Wednesdays in Jefferson, so people remember to come.”
Each live performance will be on Wednesdays from 12:15-12:30pm with a Mahanay Maestro playing live music on the four octave bells. The first Chews Jefferson is slated for June 1st.
