Dallas Center – Grimes girls soccer played in the first round of the 2A state tournament on Tuesday against North Polk, and were able to roll to a first round victory behind a good offensive attack and quality defense 5-0 DCG is able to move to 20-0 on the year, while North Polk ends their season at 13-5.

DCG tallied two goals in the first half and three in the second half. The Mustangs were able to score early and often in their workmanlike victory, as the Mustangs were able to get two goals from senior Avery Korsching and two goals from Ella Forsyth, as they were able to dominate time of possession and amount of shots on goal on the day as well. Kalyn Mills was also able to strike home a goal for DCG in the first half, her first of the season.

Maya Fritz was able to be dynamic in the net, as she was able to help DCG pitch their 13th shutout of the reason, while getting tremendous defense in front of her.

For the Mustangs, they will be playing in the semifinals tomorrow in Des Moines against Cedar Rapids – Xavier. Kick time will be at 12:30. You can listen to the game on the new 943, 997, and AM 1310 KDLS.
