The Paton-Churdan School District recently held several end of the school year recognitions.

Counselor Libby Towers says they held their annual Senior Mentor Banquet in mid-May. She points out not only is that when high school seniors receive their awards and scholarships, but they also give an essay about someone they see as a mentor who had a significant influence on their lives. There were also 26 scholarships given away that evening.

Towers notes later in May was their Academic Achievement Breakfast. To be invited to this event, Towers says high school students in grade 9th-11th must have had an cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, which included ten students. The breakfast was sponsored by Jefferson Fareway, Jefferson Hy-Vee and Lohrville Casey’s.
