The City of Adair is celebrating 150 years of existence with a three day event.
The Adair Sesquicentennial will be from June 16th through the 19th with over 50 activities taking place all around the city. Committee member Pat Pettinger says they have been planning this festival for over three years that will take the place of their annual celebration called Jesse James Days.
“We’re all very anxious to see how it goes, and we hope we have something for everyone. It’s been a long time planning and we can’t. None of us can believe we’re down to just a single few days before the celebration. But we’re excited about it. We’re hoping for good weather.”
Pettinger says something special they are having is the Jesse James reenactment of the famous train robbery in Adair.
“This is the first time anyone robbed a moving train and so that’s kind of one of Adair’s claim to fame so there is going to be a reenactment.”
The Jesse James reenactment will take place at the Adair City Park on June 18th at 1pm. For more information about the Adair Sesquicentennial Celebration click the link provided.
