The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Head Baseball Coach Taylor Morris has preached to his players about getting on base and the message has been effective this year.

Coach Morris says that a focus this year has been not letting his player worry about their batting average while making it a focal point that on base percentage is more important to winning ball games.

“I don’t care how you get down to first base whether it be a walk, hit by pitch, they make an error I say the more you get on base. We have a quality at bat chart that Coach Brantd uses and keeps track of and we told them we don’t care if you hit the ball hard and you don’t get on, right at someone then you did your job, you did exactly what you’re suppose to.”

The Chargers baseball team has done an excellent job getting on base this year with an average of .424 which is third in the West Central Activities Conference and as a team they also fourth in taking walks. They will take the field again today for a double header on road against Interstate-35.
