The Friends of the Guthrie Center Library are having a fundraiser this weekend to bring a new messaging system to the library.
There will be a bake sale that will operate in conjunction with the city wide garage sales to raise money for an outdoor electric messenger center for the Mary J. Barrett Memorial Library in Guthrie Center. Library Director Jerri Hawkins says this is an opportunity for the library to get their message to the community.
“We’ll be able to display community events, library events, and the hours of the library. For my understanding we’ll be able to use it for lots of different things and we’re hoping to put it right on (Highway) 25 there so it’ll be accessible to a lot of people to see.”
The bake sale will be from 10am-6pm on Friday and 8am until items are gone on Saturday in the library meeting room.
