Dallas Center – Grimes baseball and softball were both on the diamond on Monday night against the Newton Cardinals, and both teams were able to come away victorious with the baseball team winning 8-6 and the softball team 3-1. Softball improves 15-5 and baseball to 9-10.

Both teams were able to jump out to early leads and rely on key pitching down the stretch, both staying near the top of the Little Hawkeye Conference.

Both teams continue winning trends, the girls softball team winning their fifth straight game, baseball has won six of their last eight games.

Both teams are off today, both return tomorrow for more Little Hawkeye Conference when they travel to Oskaloosa. First pitch for both games will be at 5:30.
