Jayettes Look Sharp in Doubleheader Sweep over Nevada

The Perry Jayettes picked up solid pitching Friday night as Tina Lutterman’s squad swept a varsity doubleheader at Nevada winning 4-1 and 11-0.  Maci Tunink threw a complete game gem in the opener scattering five hits over seven strong innings.  She finished with a pair of strikeouts.   Katherine West scored two of Perry’s runs and finished with two stolen bases.  Lydia Olejniczak and Karagyn Whelchel each delivered clutch RBI hits.  Macy Killmer finished 2-2 with a RBI as well.

In the nightcap, Perry turned to Olejniczak in the circle and the junior delivered.  The all-state shortstop needed only 57 pitches to make quick work of Nevada holding the Cubs to three hits over seven innings.  She finished with 3 strikeouts.  Olejniczak helped out her own cause at the plate connecting for a pair of homeruns and driving in a season high 6 runners.   Emmalee Bell crushed a 3-run home run as well.

With the two victories, Perry is back at .500 with a 5-5 mark.  The Jayettes travel to Jewell Monday for a varsity doubleheader.  Official box scores below.
