
Thursday, July 7th
2:50am: An Officer assisted Greene County EMS in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive.
6:27am: Joy Fox reported a kid’s scooter abandoned on a sidewalk near Hy-Vee. An Officer located the scooter and found where it belonged.
7:58am: Howard Currier reported a possible theft in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive. An Officer responded and determined that it was not known if a theft occurred or not.
2:26pm: An Officer assisted with a stalled vehicle on 235th Street near the cemetery.
3:48pm: Webster County advised of a possible careless driver traveling toward Jefferson on Highway 4. An Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver about the complaint.
7:51pm: Virginia Showman reported two young kids on a roof in the 600 block of S. Locust St. An Officer responded and spoke to the kids about their activity.
8:17pm: An Officer was called to a residence in regards to an ongoing domestic situation. The Officer is investigating.
9:00pm: Ashley Cook requested a welfare check on a family member in the 400 block of Greenwood Rd. An Officer made contact with the subject and determined that everything was fine.
10:39pm: An Officer assisted Greene County EMS in the 200 block of Gallup Rd.
***** As a result of a complaint received at 1454 hrs. on July 6, 2022, Tickcha Jaimes was charged with two counts of “Animals Running at Large” and two counts of “Annual Animal License Requirement”.
Friday, July 8th
10:59am: A traffic stop at Grimmell Rd. and Mahlon St. resulted in Patrick Backer, of Nodaway, Iowa, being issued at citation for “Excessive Speed”.
11:02am: An Officer provided a funeral escort.
11:47am: Brandon Gustoff reported a traffic collision at Washington and Vine Street. An Officer responded and investigated. A 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, owned and operated by Karen McCarty, of Jefferson, had been traveling southbound on Vine Street and approached the intersection with Washington Street. At approximately that same time a 2016 Chrysler 200, owned and operated by Brandon Gustoff, of Jefferson, was traveling eastbound on Washington Street. The vehicles entered the intersection of Washington and Vine at approximately the same time, and collided. Each vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damages. Karen McCarty was issued a citation for “fail to yield to vehicle on the right”.
1:51pm: Mindy Durlam requested extra patrol in the area of swimming pool while a large swim meet was being held.
6:24pm: Heather Vanderwilt reported a stray dog in the 300 block of Edgewood Avenue. An Officer responded and took the dog to PAWS.
6:35pm: Tony Payne requested a welfare check on a family member in the 100 block of W. Madison St. An Officer located the subject and determined that everything was fine.
******* Brandon Mitchell was issued a citation for “No Parking During Cleanup”, after having failed to pay a City Parking Violation Notice, for the same offense, that had been issued on June 6, 2022.
Saturday, July 9th
3:34am: Janice Napolitano reported a suspicious person in the 1200 block of W. Lincoln Way. An Officer checked the area but did not see anything out of the ordinary.
8:15am: A traffic stop in the 1600 block of N. Elm resulted in a citation being issued to Mark Duncan, of Ankeny, for “excessive Speed”
8:19am: An unknown caller reported a broken window at a residence in the 1800 block of N. Mulberry. An Officer spoke to the resident and determined they were already aware of it.
9:16am: A traffic stop at South St. and Maple St. resulted in a citation being issued to Christie Vanhouten, of Ida Grove, for “Fail to Obey Stop Sign”.
2:02pm: An Officer responded to a traffic collision at 208 W. Lincoln Way. A 2021 Dodge Durango, owned by Jenny Fisher, of Churdan, was waiting in line to enter Oly’s Car Wash. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, owned and operated by Arlene Johnson, of Jefferson, approached the Fisher vehicle from the rear and collided with it. Damage to the Fisher vehicle was estimated at $500. Damage to the Johnson vehicle was estimated at $200.
4:59pm: An Officer responded to a traffic collision in the Hy-Vee parking lot. A 2019 Ford F250, owned by Larry Barr, of Scranton, was parked in a designated parking space in the parking lot. A 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, owned and operated by Kathleen Morain, of Jefferson, was attempting to park in a parking space in front of the Barr Vehicle. The Morain vehicle pulled to far forward and struck the Barr Vehicle. Damage to the Barr vehicle was minimal. There was no damage to the Morain vehicle.
6:21pm: Officers were called to Daubendiek Park in regards to male subject who was yelling and acting disorderly. Officers responded and made contact with Joseph Davenport, of Des Moines. It was determined that Davenport was intoxicated and subsequently arrested him for Public Intoxication.
9:32pm: As the result of an active Greene County Arrest Warrant, an Officer arrested Michelle Cook, of Jefferson.
11:45pm: An anonymous subject reported suspicious activity in the 300 block of N. Locust St. An Officer is investigating.
Sunday, July 10th
12:15am: An Officer was called to Wild Rose Casino in regards to a possible trespass situation. An Officer responded and helped to resolve the issue.
1:08am: An Officer located an unlocked business door in the 500 block of Greenwood Rd. The building was searched and secured.
3:57am: Scott Foresman reported a possible on-line scam attempt. An Officer collected information and provided advice.
7:10am: A traffic stop at Highway 30 and M Ave. resulted in Diego Avitia Zapata, of Effingham, IL, being issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”.
7:45am: A traffic stop at Highway 30 and M Ave. resulted in Alexander Kalenak, of Meyersdale, PA, being issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”.
10:03am: A traffic stop in the 1200 block of N. Grimmell resulted in Christen Williams, of Jefferson, being issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”.
2:42pm: A traffic stop on N. Elm St. resulted in Denise Promes, of Jefferson, being issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”.
3:48pm: An Officer assisted Greene County EMS in the 200 block of N. Oak Street.
8:20pm: Pauline Swanson reported a subject walking on N. Mulberry St. who was possibly suffering from a mental health crisis. Officers and the Greene County Sheriff later located the subject and provided assistance.
