The Panorama Panthers Softball team has officially concluded their season and now is a time to reflect on what they accomplished this year.
Panthers Softball was able to make it to the second round of regional competition this year after they picked up a win over the AC/GC Chargers in the first round of regional competition by a score of 11-9 behind six singles and three doubles. The Panthers then went on the face off against the Interstate-35 Roadrunners in the second round of regional competition where they fell by a score of 22-0 which ended their 2022 season.
The Panthers Softball team finished their season with an overall record of 2-26 with a 1-19 West Central Activities Conference record. Collectively, Panthers Softball batted at a .252 as a team with 144 hits, 88 RBIs and 10 home runs on the year.
On the year the Panthers we able to get solid performances from many players including Jazmyn Sellers who had four home runs and a .279 batting average and Jaidyn Sellers contributed three home runs with a .548 batting average. Grace Webner contributed a .309 average and one home run as the Panthers were able to hit the base clearing hits at a good clip this year. Arilyan Steenblock also cleared the bases twice this year with two home runs.
Before the season began the Panthers Softball team knew the pitching department would look different as Tyme Boettcher missed the season after a knee surgery but the combination of Steenblock, Jazmyn Sellers, Maggie McCarty and Bridgette Ewing provided games from the pitching circle this year. Steenblock led the team in strikeouts with 35 in 113 innings pitched and these core of pitchers will all return next year as the only senior on the team is Grace Webner who will be heading off to Iowa Central Community College in the fall.
While the season didn’t end how the Panthers Softball team would have hoped moving into this season they will be back and ready to go next year for the 2023 season.
